TNO-ESI is a leading Dutch research group for high-tech embedded systems design and engineering. It has a close cooperation with high-tech industry, as well as a strong association with fundamental research of academia, both national and international. TNO-ESI contributes to society and economy by driving advances in high-tech systems technology, with a strong shared research programme, dedicated innovation support, a focused competence development programme, and various knowledge- and experience-sharing activities.

Embedded Systems Innovation by TNO

Originally founded in 2002, the former Embedded Systems Institute was integrated in TNO in January 2013 as the research group Embedded Systems Innovation by TNO (TNO-ESI). Its (founding) partners are industry-leading companies ASML, NXP, Océ, Philips, Thales and TNO, along with Delft University of Technology, Radboud University and Eindhoven University of Technology.

The TNO-ESI programme represents the special interests of the national high-tech OEM- and SME industry, and addresses our society’s current and future needs in fields such as mobility, health, and safety & security.
