System Modelling & Analysis

This three-day master class will develop your skills in system level modelling and pays special attention to state-of-the-art analysis methods and techniques. The following topics will be addressed:

  • The link between product design. requirements and business goals.
  • The coupling between modelling, measurements and analysis as the way to do proper design space exploration.
  • Use case analysis and scenario evaluation to link to business context and requirements.

The master class combines theory with the application of modelling & analysis techniques by means of practical cases.

Target audience

The target audience of this course are system engineers and architects with a sufficient professional background (experience of 5 years or more) in development for embedded systems.

Objective

Objective of the course is to teach system engineers and architects methods and techniques for achieving an effective transformation of requirements and business drivers to technology- and product design. After following this course students will be able to:

  • understand what is a model, types of models, purpose of models
  • understand the need for quantification and the limits of quantification
  • be able to transform loose facts into an insightful model, that can be used as input for requirements discussions, system design and verification
  • understand and be able to apply the threads-of-reasoning method as a means to communicate about, and discuss the linkage between business needs and technological decisions
  • be able to analyse dependability qualities, such as reliability, safety and security
  • be able to analyse the impact of changes, and change- and variation cases
  • be able to manage expectation level of different stakeholders
